POOC 2025 Marks the Dawn of the ‘Office Orthopaedics Era’

Two-day national conference at Hotel Hyatt Pune sets new benchmarks in orthopaedic learning.

The Pune Office Orthopaedic Course (POOC) 2025 emerged as a landmark event redefining the future of non-surgical orthopaedic care in India. Conceptualised and led by Dr Kiran Shete, Founder and Director of Pune-based Spinalogy Clinic, this full-house national conference showcased the power of interdisciplinary collaboration by bringing together India’s leading orthopaedic surgeons, spine and pain specialists, interventional radiologists, neurologists, rheumatologists, endocrinologists, and vascular surgeons onto one academic platform.

With its theme, “Beyond the Scalpel - Innovations in Non-Surgical Orthopaedics,” POOC 2025 reflected the global shift towards Office Orthopaedics—an emerging movement focused on evidence-based, OPD-driven, and non-surgical treatments for musculoskeletal disorders.

A Movement Beyond the Scalpel

The two-day event at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Pune drew an overwhelming response, with 378 registered delegates and over 50 distinguished faculty members from across India. Eminent names such as Padmashree Awardee Dr John Ebnezar, Dr Parag Sancheti, Dr Jawahar Jethwa, Dr Sudhir Kothari, and Dr Uday Phadke graced the occasion, lending their insights to the evolving landscape of orthopaedic care.

The scientific program was designed to blend fundamentals with frontiers - covering everything from plaster techniques and orthotic principles to advanced sessions on radiofrequency ablation and orthobiologics. Eleven masterclasses ran to packed halls, reflecting delegates’ keen interest in practical, clinic-based skill enhancement.

A highlight of the inauguration ceremony was the unveiling of Dr Kiran Shete’s new book, Healthi Being – Ancient Wisdom for Modern Lifestyle, a thought-provoking reflection on integrative healing and the philosophy behind his clinical approach. The book will be available to the general public from 30th November 2025.

OrthoSonology

Dr. Kiran Shete proudly announced the launch of the OrthoSonology Initiative during the conference. This initiative aims to develop a structured training module for Orthopedic Surgeons and interested clinicians to upskill in Musculoskeletal (MSK) USG.

The vision is clear - To bridge the gap between clinical examination and imaging, and to establish MSK USG as an extension of the orthopedic stethoscope through systematic, hands-on, evidence-based training.

The conference concluded with a spirited valedictory ceremony, honouring Best Paper Award winners and faculty for their outstanding contributions. The energy, scientific rigor, and camaraderie witnessed throughout the event have firmly positioned Pune as the hub of integrative and non-surgical orthopaedic excellence in India.
